What to Expect

*PLEASE NOTE THE MSU DAIRY STORE DOES NOT ACCEPT CASH AS OF SEPTEMBER 2022*

General

- The Dairy Store does not offer in-store seating, however there are chairs, benches, and picnic tables made from fallen campus trees on our back patio area. The front area outside was recently renovated with new chairs, tables and benches.

- The Dairy Store does NOT accept cash or checks, but do take all major credit cards, Apple/Google pay, and Spartan Cash.

- The Dairy Store is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12-9pm in the Spring and Summer, and 12-8pm in the Fall and Winter. We are closed on Mondays.

- The only Dairy Store in operation is located in Anthony Hall. Our MSU Union location closed down in 2020 and will not be re-opening.

Ice Cream

- With few exceptions, Dairy Store ice cream is made in the MSU Dairy Plant, adjacent to the store. The Dairy Plant offers an observation deck where anyone can observe ice cream production and a drop-down video screen, explaining some information about ice cream production. We cannot guarantee what times and days the Dairy Plant will be in production. No guided tours are offered.

- Our flavors change based on demand and ingredient availability. No schedule of future flavors is posted.

- Our Dairy Plant production team is working very hard to keep up with the demand for ice cream for flavors we are currently serving, as well as trying to incorporate old flavors back into the production schedule. We cannot guarantee if/when any flavors we had prior to 2020 will return, or if any of our collaboration flavors will be remade. Please keep this in mind when visiting the store, our Dairy Store team members do not have any hand in what flavors we have or produce and when any certain flavor will be made or available again.

- We currently do not offer chocolate milk to be used in shakes. We do not have a timeline as to if or when this will be available in the future.

Food

- The Dairy Store offers several fresh, hot food items such as grilled cheese, mac & cheese, and soups, along with a wide variety snacks, sweets, and treats made by Michigan based companies that work directly with Michigan State University.

- We do not currently offer an option for type of bread or cheese for our grilled cheese sandwiches. All are currently made using sourdough and MSU sharp cheddar cheese.

- The Dairy Plant does not currently have the ability to make new cheeses, and cannot guarantee that any given flavor we currently produce will be available. The demand for MSU cheese is very high and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis when stocked in store.
